Seahorse Newsletter Archive 1940 - 1944

The USC Naval ROTC unit was established by the Department of the Navy in September 1940 when 80 Freshmen were recruited from the student body to join.  This first class of students would lead the Trojan Battalion for the next 3+ years, before being commissioned.

In December 1940, the midshipmen created a monthly newsletter which was first published on Friday the 13th.  This was to be the official publication of the Battalion.  The first issue consisted of eight, black and white, mimeographed pages with handwritten headlines and hand drawn illustrations.
